GROUP STAYS
We'll take care of the "what now?"
Mikansei is a 113-year-old former farmhouse in the mountains of Kawanehon.
It's part guesthouse.
Part community living room.
Part "How did we end up learning Kagura until midnight?"
Groups come here for retreats, workshops, university trips, creative projects, hiking weekends, tea adventures, or because someone said, "I know a place."
A BIG OLD HOUSE FOR BEING TOGETHER
Mikansei isn't a hotel.
There are plenty of places that can host a group for quick sightseeing and a trip home.
Not many can introduce them to tea farmers, artists, old stories, mountain trails, community dinners, curious neighbours, and at least two interesting cats.
Who comes to Mikansei?
LEARNING & FIELD TRIPS
Learning sticks better when it's outside the classroom.
Whether you're studying culture, sustainability, tourism, rural communities, or want students to experience a different side of Japan, we'll help connect your group with the people who live here.
RETREATS & WELLNESS
Need somewhere to slow down for a bit?
Mornings in the tea fields, afternoons with nowhere to rush off to, shared meals, mountain air, and enough space for your group to actually unplug.
CLUBS & SMALL TOURS
Tea lovers, hiking clubs, photography groups, food tours, cycling trips, international exchange, or just friends who like doing interesting things together.
Send the day exploring a place instead of just passing through it.
CREATIVE GROUPS
Bring your own workshop—or don't.
Art, photography, writing, tea dyeing, community projects, or just a few days somewhere that gets the creative gears turning.
Here's one way it could go.
-
Arrive.
Dump your bags.
Meet everyone.
Eat too much.
Sleep well. -
Tea.
Mountains.
Lunch.
People.
Stories.
More food.
Possibly an onsen. -
Slow breakfast.
One last walk.
One last cup of tea.
Everyone starts asking,
"When can we come back?"
BUILD YOUR STAY
Do you want to...
pick and drink tea with the farmer who grows it?
Visit tea farms, meet producers, taste different styles of Kawane tea, and learn how tea is grown and made.
make something?
Tea dyeing, art, photography, research, making things together—or bring your own creative program and use Mikansei as your base.
learn culture that's been passed down for generations?
Meet residents, learn about traditional arts and festivals, or create opportunities for genuine exchange.
disappear into the mountains for a day?
Walk through tea fields, explore mountain villages, hike local trails, ride the railway, or finish the day in an onsen.
Tell us what your group cares about. We can help connect the dots.
Local connection
We live here. Which means we know people.
Not in a tourism brochure kind of way.
In a "Hey, are you free tomorrow? I've got twelve interesting people I'd like you to meet." kind of way.

BRING YOUR PEOPLE
We’ll help you build the rest.
Tell us roughly how many people are coming, your preferred dates, what kind of group you are, and what you're interested in.
We're less interested in giving you a perfect itinerary than helping your group have the kind of weekend you'll still be talking about six months later.
